MSP Clare Adamson paid a visit to Newmains florist Pixies Petals to encourage Motherwell and Wishaw residents to shop locally.
The Scotland Loves Local campaign is a national initiative urging all those who live in Scotland to think local first and support their high streets.
Ms Adamson, the MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw, has also welcomed the announcement that projects across North Lanarkshire will receive £85,000 from the first round of grants from the Scotland Loves Local Fund.
The funding will go to a range of projects including community-led greenspace improvements, wildflower meadow creation, path improvements, litter picking, and the establishment of North Lanarkshire’s first Active Travel Hub in Motherwell town centre.
She said: “The pandemic has caused significant challenges for town centres, high streets and local businesses who have lost out on trade.
“Pixies Petals is a fantastic local business and I am urging constituents to support enterprise in our community.
“A huge part of our economic recovery is ensuring that local businesses are given much-needed backing. So, if you are heading out to the shops, think local first.
“Many businesses have gone to extraordinary lengths to provide their services or support vulnerable residents; it is only right that we support them in return.
“I am also delighted that projects in North Lanarkshire are going to benefit from the first round of grants from the Scotland Loves Local Fund.
“These Scottish Government initiatives are helping to create a fairer, healthier, greener, inclusive and more sustainable economic recovery. Now, we all have to play our part.
