Wishaw man threatened to use explosives & weapons to carry out acts of terrorism

A Wishaw man is behind bars after threatening to use explosives to carry out acts of terrorism.

James Stevenson was caged having pleaded guilty to repeatedly calling the emergency services from his home in Glasgow Road on March 14 and threatening to carry out acts of violence and terrorism.

During the calls, the 29-year-old threatened to use weapons and explosives against members of the public.

Stevenson also admitted resisting arrest at his home by struggling violently with police and lashing out with his arms and legs.

A police officer was also assaulted by Stevenson within the A&E department of University Hospital Wishaw.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Sheriff Daniel Kelly QC sentenced Stevenson to a total of eight months in prison.
