Wishaw Juniors hope for Junior Cup cash boost ahead of Culter replay

Wishaw Juniors boss Kieran McGuinness admits the club could use a cash-boost from a Junior Cup run after The Beltane clubhouse blaze.

A last-minute penalty on Saturday denied Wishaw victory over Culter, and forced them into a cup replay in Aberdeenshire this Saturday.

The winner of the tie will play Rossvale in the next round.

The boss says a good run could help the club survive after the volunteer-funded changing rooms and hospitality suite were badly damaged.

He said: “If you go on a bit of a cup run and end up with one of the big teams it’s the kind of thing that can help the club financially when we need it.

“The other side of it is that if we go on a run it would impact on our league form. We are already a few games behind the rest of the teams in our league, and that has meant we are near the bottom of the division.

“We still have to go up to Culter again and are expecting a tough game.”

The club will be running a supporters bus up to Crombie Park at the cost of £10 a seat.

If you wish to travel to the game on the fan transport get in touch with the committee as soon as possible.
