Wishaw Juniors boss Mark Daly issues warning ahead of East Kilbride Thistle relegation decider

Wishaw boss Mark Daly says it’s up to his players to dig them out of relegation trouble – and he’s told them Saturday’s clash with East Kilbride is ‘now or never’.

The Beltane club sit 14th in the 16-team league, four points clear of Thistle with two games in hand, and Daly says the clash is like an ‘old-fashioned cup tie’.

“It’s massive, it’s the biggest game of the season so far, and it’s another six-pointer,” said Daly.

“It’s now or never. The pressure is back on the players, so it’s about how they handle that.

“They got themselves into this position, so it’s up to them to get themselves back out of it.

“They’ve more than got it in them to get us out of trouble, but it’s whether they deliver.

“They have to get the mentality that we have to fight for everything, to win at all costs, and they are under no illusions about how important it is.”

Daly feels that beating East Kilbride will allow Wishaw to focus on teams further up the table – and use those games in hand to their advantage.

He says using the Beltane is going to be pivotal to all of that.

“If we win this we put East Kilbride away from ourselves,” he said.

East Kilbride will have a boost from bringing in Iain Diack but if we can win this one we can start to take ourselves away from that part of the table.

“It’s make or break, but it’s make or break for both sides.

“It will be like a good old fashioned cup tie, even though it’s not, and it will be interesting to see if the teams are edgy or come out all guns blazing.

“Being at home, that’s important – if you don’t win your home games you don’t really give yourself a chance of staying in this league.

“We want to make the Beltane a hard place to come to, and we’ve done that for the most part this season.”
