Wishaw gaffer's unblemished record ended by Drumchapel

Wishaw boss David Dunn saw his 100 per cent record come to an end at the hands of league leaders Drumchapel United.

The Beltane boss had won five on the bounce since taking over in December, but a 2-1 loss – where Gary Duggan got Wishy’s goal – in his first home game in charge saw them slip to seventh in West of Scotland Conference C last Saturday.

However, the gaffer was pleased with his side’s showing ahead of another big clash this weekend, against third-place Neilston.

Dunn said: “It was a tough challenge. They are obviously top of the league, but we’ve been on a good run and went in full of confidence.

“It just wasn’t to be but we did give a good account of ourselves.

“It’s individual errors that have cost us the goals. These are the things that mount up and you don’t get away with against the top sides.

“But Drumchapel were very complimentary to us after the game and that’s something we can take forward.

“The record was good while it lasted but we need to get ready for Neilston now. That’s another huge game for us.”

Neilston ran out 1-0 winners the last time the sides met in the league and Dunn added: “I still believe we’ve got a squad capable of competing with these teams.

“We just need to start taking points off these teams. I’m confident in this squad that we can go on another wee run now.”
