Wishaw footballer makes makes dream Scotland Amateurs start with debut goal

Wishaw footballer Lee Hadden was delighted to score on his first cap for Scotland Amateurs.

The Wishaw High School Former Pupils player opened his account for the national side as a select XI took on the Cumbernauld Colts in a 2-1 win.

The 20-year-old said it was a proud moment for his whole family.

“It has always been an ambition to play for the international team and hopefully I have done enough to impress the management team,” he said.

“It was a great atmosphere to play in; I think half the crowd was my family though so I had great support.

“I got my goal as well and was told I played well after so hopefully I will be called up again.”

He now hopes his international breakthrough can help him reach a higher level.

Hadden added: “I’m going to keep working hard for myself and my club and hopefully I get a move to a higher level.

“I just need to keep doing what am doing just now and see what happens.”
