Wishaw delighted with unbeaten run as they top league

David Dunn was delighted to maintain Wishaw’s perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win over Lanark United on Saturday.

Goals from Gary Duggan and Kieran Brannan ensured that Wishy stayed top of the West of Scotland League conference C.

Drumchapel United are the only other undefeated team in an extremely competitive league and assistant Dunn wants to keep the momentum going.

He said: “It was a tough place to go and we had a few bodies missing so it was an excellent three points.

“It’s a very tough conference and you can see that teams are beating each other already – it will be difficult to predict results.

“So we are delighted to be undefeated. It’s absolutely fantastic and we just want to keep it going because it will stand us in good stead.

“It keeps our momentum going and it’s been a brilliant start to the season. Gary has worked his socks off during pre-season, lost a bit of weight and he’s bided his time. He played really well on Saturday and took his goal excellently.”

Wishaw welcome Saint Anthony’s to the Beltane tonight (Wednesday) and Dunn is expecting a fiercely contested match.

He added: “Everybody is feeling their way into the season and you don’t know too much about some of the teams.”

Boss Mark Daly will be back for the clash at Petershill on Saturday.
