A couple who go above and beyond in their local community have been praised by their neighbour.
Natalie and Derek Murphy were nominated for our Say It With Flowers competition by their neighbour and friend, Angela Kyle.
Since moving to Branchalwood, Natalie and Derek have become a part of the local community and are always helping out their neighbours.
This was specially true at Christmas time when they organised a special day for the people in the area.
Angela said: “We had talked about doing a winter walk for the kids in the area but Natalie and Derek took it one step further and organised a bigger event.
“Natalie raised money to get all the kids a gift from Santa and made it a really special day for everyone.
“There were characters in costume and also hot chocolate for the kids and mulled wine for the adults. I think like most people they were upset that the kids wouldn’t have the same fun not seeing Santa.”
Both Natalie and Derek work as nurses and also have three children, Sophia, 9, Niall. 3, and a baby Fynn.
Angela added: “They have also been raising more money for Glasgow Childrens Hospital, to give back to the support that three year old Niall got when he had to have surgery when he was young. I think they have raised about one or two thousand pounds so far, just from people in the community.
“They also want to do a similar event like Christmas, but at Easter too.
“Everyone is so thankful for the effort they put in for the community, they go above and beyond for people.”
