The prevalence of dog fouling is to be discussed at an upcoming meeting of North Lanarkshire Council.
The agenda item, raised by Airdrie councillor Trevor Douglas and Wishaw representative Councillor Bob Burgess.
It reads: “This council notes the greater impact of dog fouling across all our communities, due to an increase in dog ownership because of the COVID pandemic, some irresponsible owners have failed to act by not picking up their dogs’ mess or once picked up, not disposing properly of the bag in appropriate waste bins.
“Further, calls on the council to bring a paper to the appropriate committee as soon as possible looking at solutions including increased signage and spray paint transfers to pavements to highlight the ongoing issue.”
The discussion will take place at a meeting of the full council being held on Thursday, which will be broadcast on the council’s YouTube channel.
Other matters on the agenda include the apppointment of a new religious representative on the education committee, the council’s treasury management strategy, winter strategy, appointing a commissioner on autism, vaccine rollout across the area and a proposed change to voting on suspension of standing orders.
