Wishaw commuters left without bus service because of inconsiderate car parking

Commuters in an area of Wishaw were left without a bus service because of inconsiderate drivers.

People in Pather were without the 242 First Bus service, which runs through the scheme, as the bus was unable to get past vehicles parked on either side of the road.

A First Bus spokesperson apologised to customers but insisted its drivers were left with no choice.

The spokesperson said: “We’ve been made aware of some inconsiderate parking incidents within Pather that has resulted in trips heading to the terminus having to temporarily divert away from part of Linnhe Crescent and Ness Street.

“We’ve reported our concerns to the relevant authorities and locally elected members with a view to the situation being addressed.

“In the interim, we apologise for any inconvenience that this issue is causing to the community.”

A Wishaw commuter first alerted Lanarkshire Live to the ongoing problems.

She said: “One of the drivers said it’s because there are cars parked on road at top of Pather but they haven’t put a sign on any bus stops to alert people.

“How are pensioners supposed to get out for shopping?

“I have asthma and had to walk up to top of Lomond Drive as the drivers only going into bottom of the road at shops.”
