Wishaw charity invites punters to take part in virtual Grand National

The Grand National may have been cancelled but that hasn’t stopped one Wishaw charity from running a sweepstake on a virtual version of the race.

Les Hoey’s DreamMaker Foundation is asking supporters of the charity to get behind the race which will be broadcast on Saturday at 5pm.

There will be 40 runners and for £10 you will get a horse in the race. The winner will get £100, second place bags £60 with third place taking home £40.

That means the charity will receive £200.

Angela Cook, DreamMaker Foundation co-ordinator, said: “The race is going to be on live on the telly so Les came up with the idea of doing it. It’s a bit of entertainment and can help out the charity at the same time. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Angela also confirmed the charity had donated Easter eggs to local hospitals as a result of the coronavirus.

“B&M’s very kindly donated the eggs as they do every year,” said Angela. “However, because of most of our kids are in isolation we thought it would be better if we donated it to the staff at the hospitals.”

All the information is available on the DreamMaker Foundation Facebook page.
