Wishaw care home residents go for gold with their own Olympic Games

While Team GB athletes were going for gold in the Far East, one Wishaw care home is ensuring residents get into the spirit of the Olympic Games.

Kirknowe Care Home’s three activity co-ordinators worked hard to create the Kirknowe Olympics, with events held over three days.

And as the Games began, there were plenty of fun all round as staff and residents enjoyed their activities.

A spokeswoman for the home told Lanarkshire Live : “With residents enjoying watching the Tokyo Olympics on the television, we decided to bring our very own Olympic Games to Kirknowe Care Home.

“Our activities coordinators arranged a whole host of games for residents and colleagues to take part in, from scarf throwing to basketball, with medals awarded to winners at the end.

“All our residents had great fun and it was lovely that a few relatives who were visiting in the garden got to watch and join in on the fun as well.

“We’re very glad that we’re able to facilitate these types of activities for residents and look forward to hosting similar events for our community in the future.”
