Wishaw boss slams "shocking" decision that cost them against Neilston

Wishaw boss Mark Daly has slammed the referee for the “shocking decision” that cost them in their defeat to Neilston.

Ten-man Wishaw were beaten 4-1 in the West of Scotland League Conference B but the gaffer insists it doesn’t tell the whole story of the game.

Daly, who saw Stephen McDonald sent off for a late tackle, said: “People will look at the game and think that Neilston just went out and gubbed Wishaw, but that wasn’t the case at all.

“We had the sending off and then lost two goals in the last 10 minutes. They are a very good team and it would have been a good result to take something, but it’s a shocking decision from the referee with the red card.

“I’ve watched it back on the video and it just gets even worse the more times I watch it.

“We feel a bit hard done by because I felt like we could have been the first team to take points off them this season.

“I’ve not seen everybody yet but I’m confident Neilston will go and win this league.”

Despite that disappointment, Daly says they can build on the showing when they face leaders Forth this weekend.

He added: “The boys were superb and if we play like that we will get more points in this conference.

“We are a new team, and sometimes I am expecting brilliant results right away, but the boys have to gel a bit.

“We now need to look at Forth and it will be a tough challenge. It’s a home game so it’s important for us to bounce back from this disappointment.

“If we want to go and make a wee name for ourselves in this league that’s the games we have to win.”
