Wishaw boss relishes return run as he eyes safety achievement

Wishaw boss David Dunn says his side are a game away from securing their place in the West of Scotland Football League’s middle tier for next season.

The Beltane Park club are sixth in Conference C and are looking to preserve their league status ahead of a restructuring process at the end of this campaign.

Dunn’s men face Ardrossan Winton Rovers on Saturday and have two more league games against Petershill and Yoker to go before the season ends.

And Dunn wants his side to wrap things up as quickly as possible, despite an enforced fortnight break halting their good form.

He said: “We wanted to keep the momentum going but we’ve been handed two free weeks, which is frustrating when you are seeing all the other teams play.

“But it is what it is and we just need to concentrate on Saturday to try and keep getting up the table. We had a few knocks so the break probably came at a good time.

“When I came in we were struggling and we had a threat of not being in the middle section. I set a target of staying up and we are well on course.

“I think it’s one more win but we still have all the restructuring to come. We didn’t want to fall into the bottom section so, barring a collapse, this is where we will be.

“We have some good games to come. We have Petershill at home and that might be a big crowd, as they’re going for the title, and then Yoker away.”
