Wishaw boss maintains 100 per cent record ahead of Cambuslang Rangers cup test

Wishaw boss David Dunn is excited to see where his side can go next season after continuing his fine start to life as manager.

His men moved up to sixth in West of Scotland Football League Conference C with a 3-2 victory away at Glasgow Perthshire.

It was their fifth win on the spin since Dunn took charge.

They relied upon goalkeeper Jordan Hart to make two penalty saves, providing a springboard for victory. Kieran Brannan netted a double and Kieran Campbell notched the other.

Dunn is undefeated since the reigns at Beltane Park from Mark Daly, who departed the club in December, and there have already been positive conversations on what happens with some players next season.

A delighted Dunn said: “It was a very eventful game and a massive three points in tough conditions. The pitch started to cut up and it was very hard underfoot.

“We rode our luck in the first half. We had two penalty saves on their own and they also hit the woodwork. It was maybe the rub of the green we haven’t had for a long time.

“We started a bit slack in the second half and let them into the game. When your goalkeeper saves two penalties, it gives everyone a lift.

“We have a very good squad. We probably let ourselves down at times this year. We did this at the start of the season where we went four or five games undefeated.

“It’s just trying to get that consistency which is huge at this level. You need to do it every week. If we are being a bit critical, we weren’t quite at it at times on Saturday, but there’s a will to win in this squad.”

Wishaw now face Conference B leaders Cambuslang Rangers in West of Scotland Football League Cup action this Saturday.

Dunn added: “Going forward, this week gives me positives. We have a huge game against Cambuslang in the cup who are a top, top side.”
