Wishaw boss horrified as Halloween shocker sees them lose three goals in eight minutes

Wishaw boss David Dunn says he’s rarely felt worse in football after a Halloween shocker saw his side concede three goals in eight minutes to lose 3-2 at Glasgow Perthshire.

Despite being down to 10 men after David Collins saw red in the first half, Wishaw were seemingly cruising in the West of Scotland League Second Division clash, with goals from Kieran Campbell and Steven McGurgan.

But the hosts came roaring back and netted a penalty winner with two minutes left.

Dunn said: “I’m not going to lie, that’s one of the worst I’ve felt in football, that night.

“For 80 minutes we were absolutely brilliant, even with 10 men. We were fantastic.

Dunn says Wishaw were brilliant for most of the game but switched off at crucial times (Wishaw FC)

“It was quite a good game, actually, end-to-end, they had a few chances, so did we, then we went in front, lost the man, and made a couple of positive changes because I still felt we had goals in us.

“We went 2-0 up, then had a stonewall penalty denied, hit the bar, and at that moment in time I was thinking ‘this is a right good result and kicks us right back into the middle of the table’.

“But a problem we’ve had all season was that we switched off from a throw-in – I’ve seen the video and it’s not a good watch – it’s absolutely shocking, to be honest, schoolboy stuff.

“A minute later we switched off again from a corner, they scored the second, and we were trying to hang on, but gave away a penalty.

“In the space of eight minutes we’ve lost three goals, which is hard to believe.”
