Wishaw gaffer Mark Daly hailed summer signing Kieran Campbell “unplayable” as the club returned to winning ways in the league with a narrow victory at Ardrossan.
Campbell, who made the move from their West of Scotland League Conference C rivals Petershill in August, scored one and set up the winner for Kieran Brannan in a 2-1 victory.
It keeps the Beltane Park side sixth in the table after all the sides above them also recorded victories at the weekend, leaving them 10 points adrift of leaders Drumchapel with a game in hand.

But Daly was delighted with their display and heaped praise on Campbell.
He said: “Kieran Campbell was unplayable. He was excellent. He got his goal and then set up the second for us as well.
“But the full team was great as well. It was a real gutsy performance, we dug in and we showed a bit of class, too, so it had everything.
“It’s the first time this season that I’ve had a full quota of 18, so it’s good to have everyone back and it shows that competition for places really helps.
“Not many teams will go down there and get three points.
“We were back to our old ways before that wee rot we had.
“We started very well and got our noses in front, then fell out of it a wee bit. They scored a good goal, to be fair, and then we had to dig in.

“We got our rewards with five minutes to go and I was delighted because it is a hard place to go. I think everybody above us won, so the results elsewhere didn’t go for us and that makes it a much needed three points to keep us in touch.”
Wishaw bounced back from a 5-1 reverse away to St Roch’s on September 4 in the league, yet they now welcome The Candy to Beltane Park this Saturday.
It’s a scheduling anomaly that has left Daly baffled, but he hopes his side are determined to make amends for that heavy defeat.
He added: “It’s a massive game on Saturday and if we can get something from that it would set us up nicely.

“We only played St Roch’s a few weeks ago so I’m not sure why we are playing them again so quickly.
“But it’s a chance to rectify that last result pretty quickly. I don’t think we gave a good account of ourselves in the second half. They scored five and it probably could have been more, so we’ll need to be at the races.
“I’m sure the boys are still hurting from it so they will want to put that right.”
