Wishaw-based cheerleading academy wrap up another successful season

Wishaw-based cheerleading academy Cosmic Flames have just wrapped up their most successful season yet.

The group’s 16 teams bagged a stunning total of 27 championships and four grand slam championships, three of which came at the same competition at the Emirates Arena, writes Gregor Farquharson.

The club also broke new ground when they travelled to Spain for their first-ever competition abroad.

Club coach Pamela Davis said: “We have kids from three years up to adult but the kids who compete are between five and 24-years-old.

“Each team trains twice a week and we start training in August for our first competition in February.

"The kids also put a lot of work in at home. This season we have had our first-ever travel team which saw us compete in Barcelona. We got two first places and a second place.

“We took three teams, our youth level team Aurora, our senior level team Elite and our senior level three team Radiance.”
