Wisconsin FB Alec Ingold: Playing for Packers would be ‘dream job’

The Green Bay Packers wouldn’t have to look far if they wanted to add a fullback in the 2019 NFL draft.

Wisconsin’s Alec Ingold, who grew up near Green Bay and starred for the Badgers, told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine that playing for the Packers would be a “dream job.”

From Zach Heilprin of The Zone in Madison:

Ingold rushed for 17 touchdowns and caught four more scores during his 51 games with the Badgers. He represented Wisconsin at the Senior Bowl and is now in Indianapolis for the combine.

The former all-state Wisconsin quarterback could complete the journey by landing with the Packers, who might be in the market for another fullback this offseason.

Ingold has experience as a lead blocker in the run game and as a receiver out of the backfield in a pro-style offense. He is also a willing special teams contributor. Most expected him to test well during drills at the combine.

Draft Wire labeled Ingold as a “dominant” run blocker and a “surprisingly good route runner” who has Day 3 value as an “athletic and cerebral H-Back” at the next level.

Ingold is the only true fullback at the combine this week. He weighed in at 242 pounds. On Thursday, he put up 16 reps on the bench press.
