People in Wirral are being warned to "be prepared" as urgent flood alerts were issued for several parts of the region.
Storm Christoph has swept across Wirral today bringing torrential rain, with more forecast this evening and overnight.
Flood alerts are in place for parts of Wirral overnight, particularly in areas close to watercourses and which are prone to flooding.
Heswall, Ellesmere Port, Wallasey, Bebington and Hoylake are all covered by the flood alert with flooding possible.
The alert said: "A prolonged period of heavy rain associated with Storm Christoph will continue to cause river levels to rise at the Acton Lane and Great Culvert Entrance river gauges and consequently flooding of property or roads and farmland is possible.
"We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads around the Rivers Fender and Birket, Rivacre, Dibbinsdale and Arrowe Brooks and their tributaries.
"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours and we expect river levels to remain high until Friday.
"Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue flood warnings if necessary.

A spokesperson for Wirral Council said: "The message tonight is to be prepared - and if you are in an area where there is a risk, take precautionary steps to secure your property overnight."
