Wirral Transport Museum & Heritage Tramway is closed "until further notice".
The museum, based near the Mersey Ferry service at Woodside, Birkenhead, is a popular tourist attraction that boasts an array of historic trams, buses and cars, as well as a vintage tram service which links the museum and the ferry at particular times.
Owned by Wirral Council, the museum has closed due to "circumstances beyond our control".

Taking to social media, Wirral Transport Museum & Heritage Tramway said: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, the tramway will not run with immediate effect until further notice. The museum will be open today and tomorrow as usual, but will be closed until further notice from Saturday 15th April."
The venue underwent a "substantial refurbishment programme" in 2018, which saw it kitted out with improved facilities including a new separate foyer and entrance; a tea room; a new sales kiosk, which was formed from two former Victorian Mersey Ferry booths; as well as a new viewing gallery and new or improved displays. Improvements were also implemented to help ensure the attraction was more accessible.
Now, it's closed once more, with a Wirral Council spokesperson confirming this is due to "maintenance works". The venue closed on Saturday, April 15.
A Wirral Council spokesperson told the ECHO: "Wirral Transport Museum and Tramway will be temporarily closed to allow for maintenance works to take place. This is ahead of a scheduled inspection by the Office of Rail and Road next week. It is anticipated that the facilities will reopen following that inspection."
