Wirral takeaway cordoned off as fire crews battled blaze

A blaze broke out at a takeaway in Wirral as fire engines lined the street outside.

Smoke was seen billowing from the building of Muzzy Charcoal Grill on St Pauls Road in Seacombe on Tuesday, April 27.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 4pm and arrived on scene six minutes later.

A spokesperson from the fire service said three engines attended and a fire was found in the ground floor of a shop.

A search was carried out of the flat upstairs and all people were accounted for.

Photos showed a cordon in place outside the takeaway as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

In a statement earlier this evening, MFRS said: "On arrival crews found a fire in a ground floor shop.

"The fire has now been largely extinguished and crews are working to extinguish small pocket of fires.

"Firefighters have carried out a search of the flat above the premises. All persons are accounted for."
