A shopping centre turned into a "swimming pool" after a leak caused water to gush in during stormy weather which has caused havoc across the region this afternoon.
One customer, who had been visiting Cherry Tree Centre in Liscard when heavy rain descended on the Wirral town centre, filmed the downpour inside the shopping centre.
Wendi Baldwin-Quirk said 'it was like somebody turned on a tap' as staff inside the shopping centre tried to contain the water gushing in with buckets as shoppers looked on in horror.

Posting on Twitter about the incident, Wendi Baldwin-Quirk said: "Oh dear, looks like #cherrytreecentre has changed from shopping to a swimming pool.... #wallasey#flooded"
Sharing footage with the ECHO which shows people trying to contain the flow of water gushing down a central column with buckets, Wendi said: "The staff were very quick in responding and starting the clean up, getting areas cordoned off but the volume of water coming in was too much.
"It was as if a tap had been turned on."
Other areas of Wallasey were also affected by the stormy weather this afternoon, with one person taking to social media to say: "The river Mersey now starts in Liscard" after heavy downpours had caused flooding on nearby Wallasey Road.
Another person said: "Liscard is soggy" as weather warnings remain in place across Merseyside with flash floods, thunder and lightning causing havoc on the region's roads.
The Cherry Tree Centre has been approached for comment.
