A Wirral pub has confirmed it will remain open following positive covid tests from staff.
The Harvest Mouse in Heswall will continue to serve customers as two members of their team isolate at home.
They also confirmed they have had no other positive Covid-19 results from staff and said they informed Wirral Council "immediately".
A spokesperson for the Harvest Mouse said: "Two of our team have been isolating for over a week since reporting positive Covid-19 tests.
"We’ve liaised closely with the environmental health team at Wirral Council immediately who have been supportive of all our actions and satisfied that it is safe for the pub to remain open.
"No other positive cases have been recorded among any of the team since that time and they have been taking part in the community testing programme.
"The pub is run to an extremely high standard of hygiene and cleanliness and customers visiting can be assured that all the required health and safety steps have been followed to ensure the Harvest Mouse is a Covid-secure venue."
Wirral Council has been contacted for comment.
Currently, 13 out of Wirral’s 22 council wards have five or more infections, with Greasby, Frankby and Irby (14), Heswall (12) and Pensby and Thingwall (11) the areas hit hardest by the spike after Bromborough with 33.
The latest figures for Wirral as a whole, which cover the week up to June 5, show that cases are continuing to surge.
There were 172 confirmed cases in the period at a rate of 53 per 100,000, meaning Wirral’s infection rate has more than doubled in the space of a week from 23 per 100,000, with 76 cases recorded, in the week up to May 29.
