Wirral bakery announces 'sad' closure after 'two beautiful years'

A Wirral bakery announced its "sad" closure after being part of an "amazing" community for two years.

OLAWA Bakery in Liscard specialised in authentic Polish breads and cakes and pastries. The bakery opened in the Cherry Tree Centre in April 2021 and was owned by couple Pati Wlodarek and Bart Ruszkowski.

In a statement posted on the bakery's Facebook page, the business cited factors 'out of their control' as the reason behind the closure. The post read: "Sadly today our adventure with OLAWA Bakery Wirral has come to an end.

"Unfortunately due to things that are out of our control we are forced to close our shop. We would like to thank you for your support over the last two beautiful years and we are really proud that we could be a part of amazing Wirral community. Sometimes one door needs to be closed so that the other one could be open. Big love to all of you and thank you for everything."

The announcement was met with an outpouring of support from customers. Cyril said: "So sad...your products have been a breath of fresh air in Liscard. We will miss you and your cakes. Please let us know if you re-open. Best wishes for the future."

Les added: "This is awful news, thanks to you all and good luck." Jan wrote: "Sad to hear this. Your cakes are amazing. Good luck for the future."

Stephen commented: "So sorry to hear this news - your bakery has been a great addition to Liscard and will be missed. Wishing you both the best of luck for the future." Caz said: "Such sad news, your cakes and breads were amazing. It was always lovely to see you either in the shop or out and about, such lovely people and Liscard was brighter for you being in it."
