Wintry showers forecast for Christmas Day in Nottingham

A white Christmas could be on the way in Nottingham as wintry showers are forecast for Christmas Day.

According to BBC weather forecasters, there is a chance of sleet on December 25 in Nottingham from 7pm until midnight.

It will feel very cold during the day too, with temperatures not getting above 3C.

Light cloud is predicted through the day with some sunny intervals in Nottingham - if you're heading for a post Christmas dinner walk.

Giving its long range forecast for December 20 to 29, the Met Office said: "At the start of this period it will be settled and predominantly dry with large amounts of cloud, though cloud may well be thick enough for the odd spot of drizzle at times. In general, cloud amounts will tend to reduce with time, with a corresponding increase in the risk of overnight fog and frost, which may be slow to clear by day in some areas.

"Towards the middle of the period, there is an increasing chance of more unsettled and windier weather affecting the UK, with rain, and perhaps snow, possible for some places. Temperatures will generally be near to below normal, perhaps rather cold in the south, feeling chilly where any fog persists, and locally mild in the north and northwest."

It comes as the UK looks set to be hit by wind, snow and rain as a “major storm” hits the country in the final week of December.
