Canberra's city centre will soon be transformed into an open-air ice-skating arena with the return of Wintervention this month.
Civic Square will become a winter pop-up ice-skating venue from June 25 to July 11, with entertainment, activities, food and market stalls set up around the rink.
Markets will run across two weekends - June 25-27 and July 2-4 - and "Stars on Ice" will entertain crowds with live performances on Fridays and over the weekend.
It is returning after COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the event in 2020. City Renewal Authority chief executive officer Malcolm Snow said Wintervention was a family-friendly event designed to embrace the Canberra chill.
"No other mainland city around the country has a winter like Canberra, with enchanting frosty mornings and snow-covered mountains visible from the city centre," Mr Snow said.
"This event is a great chance to get out of our winter bunkers and experience what our city has to offer over the colder months."
Tickets for the ice-rink are on sale now. Prices range from $10 to $20 and family bundles are available from $59. Tickets can be purchased at canberra.starsonice.com.au/tickets
All other events and activities are free, however attendees will be required to use the Check-in CBR app and maintain physical distancing for COVID-safety.
