As we inch closer to the end of the year, all of the glittering holiday parties are in full swing. But despite busy social calendars, there's one event that is a must on any self-respecting party goer’s calendar: Winter Wonderland at the New York Botanical Garden.
It’s an understatement to say that it's a hike up to the Bronx on any normal night, but even an apocalyptic level torrential downpour and an hour plus Uber ride couldn’t keep the glitterati away from the ball of the season.
The evening, sponsored by Wempe Jewelers, featured a photo backdrop of a life-size locomotive filled with sparkling jewelry where guests posed for photos and enjoyed cocktails while taking in the more than 175 miniature New York City landmarks. The backdrop also provided an excellent place for people watching and the fashion did not disappoint on Friday evening.
This year’s attendees included Winter Wonderland Gala Chairs Alessandra Ford Balazs, Georgina Bloomberg, Peter Brant Jr., Lili Buffett, Gillian Hearst, Kit Keenan, Larry Milstein, Ariana Rockefeller and Timo Weiland. Additional attendees included socialite Olivia Palermo, party reporter Zach Weiss and fashion designer Wes Gordon.
The cocktail hour and subsequent dinner and dancing was the place to see and be seen. All in all, it was a socialite-studded evening and the ideal way to close out the 2019 social calendar.
