With Christmas the time of year for partying aplenty and lots and lots of rich food and drink, getting out for a little winter walk can be a great way to clear the head and burn off some calories on Boxing Day.

Thankfully, Glasgow has a plethora of great hikes and trails that are ideal for exploring with your family and discovering some stunning winter scenery.

The 'Car Park in the Sky' as it's known to locals, is where you begin this fun walk, with not only car park offering incredible views all the way to the Kilpatrick Hills, but further along the walk itself you'll find plenty of pace for your dogs to run around in.

Pollok Park

Another reason to stay in the southside, this incredible park is filled with fun things to do including (on non-holiday days) exploring the stately Pollok House or taking a (free) trip to the Burrell Collection, but on Boxing Day it'll be the park itself, its woodland and of course the Heilan Coos you'll enjoy most.

This one is brilliant for both kids and dogs, an exciting woodland park on the banks of the River Clyde, it's packed with lots to do including Scotland's first outdoor bouldering park.
