Winter Love Island start date 'leaked' but series will be shorter than normal

If you've still got serious Love Island withdrawals, you'll be pleased to learn that Winter Love Island will be here before long!

It's snot been three months since Amber & Greg won the summer version of the hit itv2 show and, while they've since split, after Greg dumped the Geordie girl by text, there is still a lot of love out there for Love Island.

There was great excitement in the summer when it was revealed that there will be two series of Love Island in 2020 - with summer one being preceded by Winter Love Island.

The new run will see singles jet off to South Africa in the hope of finding romance while the rest of us are busy returning unwanted Christmas presents, trying to banish the post-Christmas and New Year blues or trying to shift some festive pounds.

And it is being widely reported that the start date for Winter Love Island is January 8.

A TV source told  MailOnline : "The new Winter Love Island will launch the second week of January.

How to apply for Love Island 2020

"Bosses are still deciding on the final date but it is thought to be January 8 – a week after staff arrive in South Africa. It has been decided that the show will run for six weeks instead of the usual eight.

"The new cast of singletons fly out just days before the launch but bosses work with test Islanders to uncover the best spots in the villa to create drama."
