Winter joy as frozen farmer's field stages impromptu ice hockey match to banish those pandemic blues

An ice hockey match played in a farmer’s field managed to beat the crippling  lockdown restrictions announced yesterday.

The players - dubbed the Bishopton Pirates - took to the ice with sticks and skates in Renfrewshire on Sunday morning.

And some of the youngsters played for hours . . . having the time of their lives, according to parents.

Motorist Kirsty Horne parked up to take this picture after spotting the scene opposite the Ingliston Country Club outside Bishopton.

Kirsty said: “I wondered what they were all doing in the field so stopped to take a look.

“I was amazed to see a game of ice hockey taking place.

“Everyone looked like they were having so much fun outdoors on ice.”
