Bleak mid-winter in Borgue parish has been brightened up by an artistic festive display at the roadside.
The crafted work on the Carrick junction at Knockbrex features a stylised Christmas tree and two reindeer – one dressed up as a belted Galloway.
Both animals are fashioned from sawn up tree branches and garlanded with Christmas decorations.
The colourful creation is the work of local woman Angela Paul who installs floral displays at the same site in summer.
The base for the installations is an old tractor tyre up-cycled from a nearby farm.
Angela said: “I have been doing it for a number of years.
“When Borgue Flower Show had its 150th anniversary I asked a local farmer if I could have an old tyre for a display.
“He kindly brought it down on the tractor for me.
“I spent a day making the Christmas display.
“We had a tree come down in the garden and a friend cut it up with a chainsaw into the appropriate lengths for the animals.
“My husband helped me make the reindeer – I have not done woodwork ever!”
