BHOPAL: For the third consecutive day, Bhopal shivered in bone-chilling cold as the minimum hovered in the 5s.
Thursday’s low was 5. 3 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees below normal and the lowest of the year. A warning of severe cold wave has been issued for Bhopal for the next two days, said met officials.
Hill station Pachmarhi was almost freezing at 1. 5 degrees with the state in the grip of severe cold wave.
Even the clear sunlight for a few hours in the afternoon failed to give any respite from the bone-chilling cold. Met officials said the trend will continue for threefour days.
In the plains, Raisen was the coldest at 3 degrees. Gwalior recorded 5. 2 degrees, Jabalpur 6. 5 degrees and Indore 6. 8 degrees Celsius. Sagar, Khandwa, Malanjkhand, Betul, Dhar, Guna, Hoshangbad, Ratlam, Khargone, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Raisen anNaogaon were in the grip of a cold wave.
Met has issued a severe cold wave warning for Indore division and Ujjain, Datia, Tikamgarh, Betul, Damoh and Balaghat districts. Warning of cold day was issued for Rewa, Shahdol, Bhopal and Chambal divisionsand for Chhindwara, Jabalpur etc.
Bhopal’s day temperature was19. 8 degrees Celsius, 7 degrees below normal mark. Bhopal’s lowest of the season is 3. 4 degrees Celsius, recorded on December 20, 2021, the coldest in half a century.
There would be no respite from cold for the next few days, stated met officials.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Friday, the met officials said, there would be clear sky and dry weather will prevail. Day and night temperature would be 20 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
