Winter coat campaign launched to help Glasgow's most vulnerable

Glaswegians are being asked to donate old coats to help the city's most vulnerable people keep warm this winter.

The Wrap Up Glasgow campaign is calling for coats to be dropped off at the Safestore unit in the Glasgow's south side.

Once all the spare coats have been collected, they will be taken to warehouses, sorted and graded before being sent to organisations across our region that help a range of people in desperate need.

Last year, the nationwide campaign from Human Appeal helped collected a total of 30,787 items of winter clothing across Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham as part of the initiative.

Human Appeal wrote: “A winter coat might seem like a small gesture, but it can make a huge difference to a vulnerable person enduring cold nights on the streets, living in a shelter or who can’t afford to pay for heating.

“Through the simple act of asking kind people like you to donate your spare winter coat, we can help local charities to provide the homeless, refugees, children living in poverty, and those fleeing domestic violence with warmth.”

Commuters and shoppers can drop off their coats at the Safestore location in the south side on Lawmoor Street.
