West Ham's veteran centre-back Winston Reid has departed the Hammers on loan for the remainder of the season after returning to the club just last month.
Reid has not made an appearance for West Ham since March 2018 due to a number of injuries and did not feature in David Moyes' plans going forward.
Moyes said just last week of Reid: " If he wants to go out on loan we'll be open to that. But we're also very happy to have him around the place. He's been a great ambassador for the club and he's someone I respect greatly.
"At the moment we have four centre-halves who are competing for positions and we don't have too many openings in that area at the moment."
Brentford are on fine form in the CHampionship sitting third having just beaten Wycombe 7-2 on Saturday but face a minor injury crisis in defence.
Pontus Jansson, Luka Racic and Charlie Goode are all out injured so the experience of Reid as immediate cover seems to be a deal that suits all parties.
Said Benrahma made the opposite move to Reid in October on loan before making his transfer permanent on Friday.
Brentford are known for their smart recruitment, with Olly Watkins and James Tarkowski further evidence of their successful transfer model, and The Hammers would do well to maintain a good relationship with the West London club.
One player West Ham are rumoured to be interested in for a summer transfer is The Bees striker Ivan Toney.
The former Peterborough man is currently top-scorer in the Championship with 19 goals in 25 games and looks every bit a player ready for Premier League football. Whether that is with Brentford or another club remains to be seen.
Toney was signed for a reported £10m, so any move for the 24-year-old is bound to be a costly one as Brentofrd will want to make a considerable profit on their man.
