"Winning machine" - Martin Keown makes Liverpool 'Invincibles' claim to worry Arsenal supporters

Arsenal legend Martin Keown knows what it takes to go unbeaten in the Premier League for an entire season.

The former defender was part of the Gunners squad which achieved this historic feat in the 2003/04 campaign and it's a record which hasn't yet been matched.

Liverpool are the latest team to try their hand.

The Reds have made a blistering start to the new campaign as they aim to be crowned champions of England for the first time in almost three decades.

And it's because of their 18-game winning streak which has Keown feeling Arsenal's 16-year record is under serious threat.

"I'd have to say they are [the biggest threat to Arsenal's Invincibles’ record]," he told talkSPORT. This is a winning machine. [Manchester] City set the standards the last two seasons, nearly 200 points in two seasons – they know now that you live like champions.

"Nothing else matters but winning, and they go out and they do it. It’s going to be difficult for them. I think they play Man City, now, in the early part of November, and there are just two or three games between then.

"If they beat City, they’re eight points clear already, that’s massive.

"They're setting huge standards, here, Liverpool."

Having a team take away the 'Invincibles' crown probably wouldn't sit well with Arsenal fans so Keown's comment about Liverpool's chances is unlikely to go down well.

The weekend before the October proved to be a great one for Jurgen Klopp's side as the reigning champions were beaten at home by Wolves and now trail the Reds by eight points.

Manchester United become the next team to try and inflict a first league defeat on the Reds this season when the two rivals meet at Old Trafford on Sunday.
