Winning Lotto shops announced as two players win big but both see share of bad luck

Two Irish Lotto players won big in Wednesday night's draw, but the record-breaking €19 million will be back up for grabs this weekend.

As there were no additional funds added to last night’s incredible jackpot, this meant that in excess of €1 million was distributed to the next winning tier for the Match 5 + Bonus prize.

Both of last night's winners were in Dublin and managed to win the prize of €1,130,780, but seen as both claimed the prize, they will each get half of the prize equalling €565,390.

The tickets were sold on the day of the draw at the Applegreen filling station on the Ballyfermot Road in Dublin 10 and at Lynch’s Centra on the Main Street in Lucan, Co. Dublin.

Speaking about the great news, Alan Flanagan, General Manager of Lynch’s Centra, said he was delighted to hear that one of his customers had come into some good luck and said; “There’s a total buzz around the shop this morning after hearing the news," he said.

"We have a team of 30 working here and there’s great excitement as this is the biggest lotto prize that we have ever sold.

"We have a real mix of locals, people working in the village and others passing through who come into the shop every day so let’s hope the lucky person checks their ticket soon.

"We’ve already had lots of customers in this morning eager to see if their tickets are now worth €565,390 so I imagine we’ll have even more throughout the day.

"We wish the best of luck to the winner – they’ll certainly be having a lovely Thursday with this news!”

This Saturday, the dream of becoming the largest Lotto jackpot winner ever could finally be with €19,060,800 back up for grabs.

The jackpot will continue to remain capped at this and the prize money usually added to the jackpot will continue to flow down to the next prize tier at which there is a winner.

National Lottery officials continue to remind the public to pick up their tickets ahead of the 7:45 pm cut off point on Saturday evening, with the draw taking place at 8:00 pm.
