Winning £1 million lottery ticket claimed in Greater Manchester

A lucky Bury resident could soon become Britain's newest millionaire after a winning lottery ticket was claimed in the borough.

Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, which runs the National Lottery, says it has today (August 17) received a claim for the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker prize from a ticket bought in Bury borough.

If the ticket passes Camelot's checks, the winner will be £1 million richer.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “What amazing news for this lucky ticket-holder who has claimed their prize.

"We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process."

EuroMillions Millionaire Maker guarantees to create a millionaire in every draw.

For every EuroMillions line played, UK players automatically receive a EuroMillions Millionaire Maker code printed on their ticket.

As with all major National Lottery prizes, the claim will now go through the process of validation, which includes checks to ensure terms and conditions are adhered to and the integrity of The National Lottery is protected.

Subject to validation the prize will then be paid at an appointment with one of Camelot’s Winners’ Advisers, before the winner decides whether or not to go public with the news.

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk

Mr Carter added: “We’re encouraging everyone to check their tickets online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app, and to buy or check their tickets in retail in line with government guidance.

"Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner."

Thanks to National Lottery players, over £1.2 billion is being used by charities and organisations affected by the impact of coronavirus.

That includes over £600 million in funding support from the National Lottery Community Fund, which is being used to help groups best placed to support people and communities through the crisis.
