Winnie Harlow's powder room walls are a 'spectacular shrine to fashion' – they tap into this emerging trend

Winnie harlow.

In 2024, the most popular trend is being anti-trend (yes, really). From TikTok creators to New York Times cultural writers, arbiters of style are celebrating 'de-influencing,' the practice of purchasing based on your tastes rather than what you've been told to like by every social media ad and influencer. Winnie Harlow's unique, fashion-forward powder room is about as de-influenced as you can get.

The supermodel's powder room, formulated by the incomparable Martyn Lawrence Bullard, includes hundreds of multi-color images of Winnie printed across the bathroom wallpaper. Juxtaposed with mid-century lighting and an Art Deco mirror, Winnie's unique bathroom walls make a striking impact.

The designer writes in the caption: 'These amazing images by Steven Sebring from a lookbook shoot for Zac Posen has turned Winnie Harlow's powder room into a spectacular shrine to fashion.

Even though Winnie didn’t want images of herself all over her house, I convinced her to let us make this wallpaper of these beautiful and spectacularly colorful fashion images depicting Winnie in various poses. The end result is wildly unexpected and so fun.'

Martyn continues, 'Everyone who enters her powder room is wowed and stunned by the crazy imagery. Printed in a relatively small size so you don’t immediately even know it’s Winnie, it’s a nod to Winnie’s career and to just having some fun in decorating this little space.' Coming from one of the world's best interior designers, this is a strong endorsement for the personalized look.

Aside from its stunning execution, Winnie's bathroom wallpaper is yet another harbinger of the personalization interior design trend. Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens, says, 'The unique, colorful, and highly individual wallpaper in Winnie Harlow's powder room creates a very singular look that you won't see in any other space in the world. Based on the popularity of DIY and de-influencing, I predict that we'll see more and more of this individual style interior design in 2024.'
