The winners of three special elections in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives held last month were sworn into office on April 6. The new representatives who assumed office are:
• Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) • Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland) • Rep. Kathleen “K.C.” Tomlinson (R-Bucks)
Bonner represents District 8, which former Rep. Tim Nesbit vacated on January 2. Davanzo fills the vacant seat in the 58th District last held by Justin Walsh, who resigned on December 26, 2019. Tomlinson assumes office in District 18, where Gene DiGirolamo stepped down on January 6. Each of the vacancies was created when the former legislators were appointed to a new judicial or state executive position.
Bonner, Davanzo, and Tomlinson won election to office in special elections held on March 17 and all three incumbents are running for re-election in their respective districts. Pennsylvania’s primary elections are scheduled to take place on June 2.
With the addition of the new representatives to the Pennsylvania House, the partisan composition of the chamber is 110 Republicans, 93 Democrats, and zero vacancies. Pennsylvania’s General Assembly, which fills vacant seats by special election, has called five special elections thus far in 2020—four in the House and one in the Senate.
