For much of the game, the New York Jets seemed to be actively trying to lose to the New England Patriots in Week 9. Bill Belichick, meanwhile, seemed to be chipping away at New York in hopes of finally pulling away from this lowly winless team. He wanted to win — which made it all the more embarrassing that the Patriots struggled so enormously to do so.
But New England won, 30-27, with a last-minute field goal from Nick Folk to take the lead as time expired. And you know that the Patriots are going to take tremendous pride in this comeback win, even if they probably shouldn’t.
And to be fair, they did what they had been unable to do all year. The Patriots managed to score on the final drive of the game, even after failing on that final drive against the Seahawks and the Bills in dramatic fashion.
The only problem is that the degree of difficult will only go up from here. The Jets are, by far, the worst team in the NFL. But, hey, a win is a win is a win. Here are the winners and losers.
