Winner of £8million lottery jackpot sobbed as he was reunited with stepmum after 20 years

A man who scooped a fortune playing the lottery celebrated the win by reconnecting with his step-mother after more than 20 years apart.

Kursat 'Chico' Yildirim, 42, landed about £8million, and splashed out on the likes of a brand new Ferrari.

When he was a child, his father married Jutta who took care of Chico and his two brothers for about eight years, but they lost contact when they grew up.

Shortly after landing, the windfall tracked down an old friend of Jutta's and got his stepmother's contact details before calling and arranging a get-together.

Driving to the meet, he admitted sobbing before their catch-up.

Former crane operator Chico said: “I'm the happiest person! I've been looking for her for so long and I would have never stopped until I died.

“She is very, very special to me. You know, anyone can make a child. But not everyone can be there for a child.

"She did everything for us, more than some mothers do for their own children.

"She even gave us money to call our own mother and buy her a present for Mother's Day.

"I was so looking forward to this day and then it was so special.

"She was happy too, she said she thought of us so often.”

Chico decided to take his birth mother to the encounter, although he had to interpret.

Jutta, 76, gave her stepson advice following his lottery win, telling him: “Boy, be careful.

Chico was previously convicted of fraud and robbery (Newsflash)

“The money can be gone very quickly, as much as it seems now.”

Chico had previously been convicted of fraud and robbery for robbing several amusement arcades to feed his gambling and drug addiction, according to local media.

He was given a 27-month jail term in February 2021 but was released early due to good behaviour, and his willingness to undergo therapy.

After winning the prize he said: "I've always been the misfit of my family. So many people have written me off. They said I'm done.

"I kept praying to God for another chance because I was desperate to leave my old life behind.

“I've done a lot of bad things. I've been at the very bottom. Today I'm so sorry about all of that."

The multimillionaire recently announced he was looking for a wife. However, his ex-girlfriend claimed he dumped her after winning the jackpot.
