SUNRISE, Florida _ Tommy Wingels scored with 11:07 left in the third period as the Sharks erased a slow start to earn a come-from-behind 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday at BB&T Center.
After a faceoff deep in the Panthers' zone, Wingels stripped the puck from defenseman Michael Matheson to the left of the Florida net. He then carried the puck in front and deked goalie James Reimer for his second of the season.
Logan Couture scored an empty-net goal with 56.3 seconds left, his first since Oct. 17 against the New York Rangers, as the Sharks improved to 4-4 on the road this season.
Brent Burns and Joe Pavelski also scored for the Sharks, who won their second straight to start their season-long six-game road trip. Martin Jones, in his 10th straight start, finished with 24 saves.
The Sharks' trip continues Saturday in Tampa Bay against the Lightning.
With the Sharks trailing 2-1, Joel Ward broke an 11-game points drought with an assist on Pavelski's game-tying goal 1:53 into the second period.
Ward came off the bench and chased down a loose puck that Pavelski had out around the boards behind the Panthers' net. Ward gave it back to Pavelski, who beat Reimer to the glove side for his fifth of the season.
It was Ward's second game on the top line with Pavelski and Joe Thornton, and he appeared to grow more comfortable in that spot as Thursday's game progressed.
The Sharks didn't come close to getting the start they wanted as Demers scored his first two goals of the season.
Jared McCann shot the puck into the Sharks zone as it came around the net to Jones. He put the puck back into the corner where McCann picked it up and fed it in front, where Demers was waiting. His shot hit Wingels' stick and deflected past Jones high to the blocker side for a 1-0 Florida lead just 5:09 into the first period.
Demers' second goal 7:26 into the first started with a Joel Ward turnover near the Panthers' blue line. Aleksander Barkov passed to Jaromir Jagr in the faceoff circle to Jones' left. Jagr stopped to give himself some room, and his shot hit Barkov and came right to Demers, who had an open net to make it 2-0.
Burns gave the Sharks their first goal on a magnificent individual effort with 3:42 left in the first period.
Burns got in the way of a shot attempt by Keith Yandle inside the Sharks' blue line, carried it up the ice, kept the puck away from Demers with his backhand and beat Reimer with a forehand shot for his team-high sixth of the season. Burns has now scored in three of the last four games.
