Windy and rainy start to the week as autumn weather sets in

The North East is in for a breezy and rainy start to the week as Autumn weather sets in.

It looks like rain is likely throughout most of the week with some heavy showers predicted for Thursday and chilly temperatures starting to make an appearance.

The Met Office told us what to expect for the coming days:

Monday

"A bright start, but soon becoming rather cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain, most frequent across the Pennines and Cheviot Hills.

Miserable weather on the Quayside (Newcastle Chronicle)

"Maximum temperature 17 °C."

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

The Met Office predict weather will be: "Breezy and rather cloudy with patchy rain on Tuesday.

"Brighter but windy with coastal gales and heavy showers on Wednesday.

"Sunny though chilly start on Thursday, then breezy and cloudy."

Temperatures on Tuesday are expected to be around 19°C before dropping down to around 15°C by Thursday.

After unpredictable weather before and after the August Bank Holiday weekend, it's anyone's guess what the forecast has in store for the Great North Run later this week.
