There is a new versin of Windows XP on the way, and you won't be able to buy it without buying a new PC, reports the Washington Post. Windows XP Media Center Edition will as expected incorporate the technologies known as Freestyle, and will be used in PCs that double as TVs, personal video recorders and media players. They won't be the first PCs to come with a remote control, though some dumb journalist probably will make that claim. (I don't know which was, but the Olivetti Envision had one.)
