Windows smashed by vandals despite social distancing warning

Windows above a shop for children's clothes have been allegedly smashed by children.

Large stones and smashed windows were spotted above Scamps Childrens' Designer Wear, on West Derby Road, in Tuebrook on Sunday evening.

Photos from the scene showed large holes in the windows above the store.

The reported vandalism comes as millions of people across the country were ordered to stay indoors in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.

It's been reported that the windows were smashed after children were "throwing big stones from the Railway Bridge" on Sunday evening.

A spokeswoman for the police has appealed for witnesses to the reports.

She said: "We were called to Scamps Childrenswear on West Derby Road in Tuebrook at 1.05am today, Monday 30th March, to reports that damage had been caused to a first floor window and an alarm box.

"CCTV enquiries have been carried out.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact @Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 20000189416."
