A huge house fire engulfed the entire first floor of a home in Kirkdale, prompting a major emergency services response.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue were alerted to a first floor fire at an address on Argos Place, Kirkdale, at 3.53pm.
Fire crews were at the scene one minute later at 3.54pm, a spokesperson for the fire service confirmed.
When the initial crew arrived they found the first floor of the property "well alight". Two firefighters with breathing apparatus began to fight the fire with one hose reel.

An ambulance was requested to the scene to assess those caught up in the blaze for smoke inhalation, with fire crews assessing the residents prior to their arrival.
No one at the scene required further treatment and no one is believed to be hurt.
Two additional firefighters wearing breathing apparatus joined the efforts to combat the first floor and roof space fire.
Three fire engines and a combined platform ladder were at the scene, as efforts were made to extinguish the blaze.
It is unclear whether residents of the property were rescued or made their way out of the home themselves.
Neighbouring properties were evacuated as the fire was contained.

The fire was extinguished by 4.30pm with firefighters at the scene removing roof tiles and checking the home was free of flames.
Firefighting ceased around 6pm after confirming there was no additional flames within the site.
