Microsoft has just dealt some seriously bad news to millions of Windows 10 users and it could prove costly for anyone with an older PC in their homes. The Redmond company has just confirmed that its latest Windows 10 release, called 22H2, is going to be its last which means users of this hughly popular software will no longer get exciting new features or shiny game-changing upgrades.
Announcing the news, Microsoft's Jason Leznek said: "The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10."
Now, this isn't quite the end of this operating system with Microsoft telling users that their computers will stay protected until late 2025 - that's the date when all support ends but until that time security updates and bug fixes will continue to be released.
However, those wanting to see the constant changes pushed out by Microsoft on a regular basis will now need to switch to Windows 11. That may sound like a good option but it could end up being a very expensive decision.
That's because many ageing devices simply aren't compatible with this latest Microsoft OS and the only way to fix that issue is to take a trip to the local tech store and buy a new PC.
For those not already aware, Windows 11 requires a relatively new processor, additional RAM, plenty of storage and the inclusion of something called a TPM 2.0.
TPM stands for Trusted Platform Module and is a security feature built into hardware that you'll find on newer devices. Those wanting to update also may need extra RAM with Microsoft confirming that PCs need at least 4GB of this memory to run the latest version of its software and users will need at least 64GB of spare storage to install it.
Despite all of those requirements, Microsoft is urging Windows 10 fans to adopt its latest software with the company saying, "We highly encourage you to transition to Windows 11 now as there won't be any additional Windows 10 feature updates,"

Storage: 64 GB or greater available storage is required to install Windows 11.
Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later, with a WDDM 2.0 driver.
TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0.
