Window smashed after passenger kicked off train

This was the damage caused to the front of a train after a passenger who had been thrown off allegedly smashed the front window.

The damage happened at Eastbrook Station, Dinas Powys, in Vale of Glamorgan during the Wednesday morning commute.

There were major delays on Transport for Wales services for two hours as the damaged train was stuck at the station.

British Transport Police (BTP) said a man was reported to have thrown a piece of ballast at the train at 8.13am on Wednesday.

A spokesman added that a 22-year-old man from Barry had been arrested and is in police custody.

Transport for Wales said the incident happened after a customer was ejected from a train at Eastbrook this morning.

A spokesman said: "Following this the customer vandalised the front driver’s windscreen, meaning it could not proceed from the station, causing significant disruption on the network.

"BTP were called to the scene and we are working closely with them over this incident. We thank customers for their patience and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.”
