Windies vow to bring flair to World Cup

** WATCH: In episode seven of our vodcast series, CWC22 with Jimmy and Kristy, West Indian Hayley Matthews promises her team will bring Caribbean flair to the World Cup opener against the White Ferns on Friday.**

All eyes will be on the opening match of the Cricket World Cup tomorrow, with the West Indies taking on the White Ferns in Tauranga, and West Indian all-rounder Hayley Matthews guarantees her team will bring something special to the encounter.

Even though West Indies are underdogs (ranked seventh), Matthews says it’s not the worst thing - promising they'll bring Caribbean flair to all their games, and have fun on the field with no pressure.

Matthews told Kristy Havill and Jimmy Neesham her side are excited to play in the first game of the tournament, despite a few nerves.

“If you can win that first game right out the blocks, especially against the home team, it’s definitely going to give you a boost of confidence going into the rest of the tournament,” she says.

Matthews turns 24 during the tournament, but is one of the more experienced players in the team, having made her debut at 16.

If they win the Cricket World Cup, expect a massive party, and everyone's invited.
